Meet Dr. Sara Steinberg

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist working with adolescents, adults, and families, with over two decades of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and my doctorate in clinical psychology from SUNY Stony Brook. I completed my predoctoral internship at Long Island Jewish/Hillside Hospital in Queens, NY, and my postdoctoral fellowship at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants, LLP, where I trained in comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adolescents and adults, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) across the lifespan.

For the past ten years, I’ve served on the voluntary faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College–NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, mentoring and supervising trainees. I’ve also had the privilege of supervising students, trainees, and licensed professionals throughout my career, including as an adjunct clinical supervisor at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

I have experience consulting with local middle and high schools implementing DBT programs, and I provide CBT supervision and consultation to school psychologists, counselors, and social workers. I also enjoy collaborating with the community through workshops and trainings for parents, educators, and mental health professionals, helping to share practical, evidence-based strategies.

In addition to my clinical work, I’ve conducted research on adolescent depression, romantic relationships, and parent–teen dynamics. I’ve co-authored articles and book chapters and presented my work at national conferences. I am an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association, and I am licensed to practice in both New York and Connecticut.

“Therapy can help you learn strategies to build the life you want to live.”
